Nancy's Story
Life
After leaving Warren in 1975, I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1979 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. I got a job at the local NBC station, KSBY, in San Luis Obispo as a Weathercaster, Reporter and Anchor. In 1981 I moved to San Diego to work at the NBC station, KNSD as a producer. I also lived with my best friend from high school(Kerry Murray) until she got married. I loved San Diego and worked nine hard years to become the News Director, but I loved Los Angeles even more so I returned home in 1989. I was hired in April to be the Executive Producer at KNBC-TV, Los Angeles. ration people now call a duopoly operation. We run two news departments and do 11 hours of live news daily. Along the way, I met my husband Dave Gonzales in 1983. I was his newscast producer in San Diego. We survived a commuter relationship/marriage for six years and finally moved into the same house in 1992 in Valencia. He currently anchors two newscasts on KCAL-TV. We have a beautiful daughter who is 7 years old, and two older children from my husband's first marriage. We live on two acres in Castaic, about as far as you can get from Hollywood and still be in Los Angeles county. My parents have both passed away, but my sister and I still own the house in Downey where I grew up. Most of my family still lives in Downey so we are there quite often.
