Nancy's Story
Life
I still live in the Richmond area and have been married to the same wonderful man since 1969. We have 2 daughters, 3 sons, 1 son-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 4 grandsons, and 2 granddaughters.
Bill and I organized a Crimewatch and have attended the Richmond Citizens Police Academy. We continue to work closely with the Richmond Police Dept. to rid our area of drug dealers and criminals. This work is very important to me and we have been very successful (although its an ongoing battle) in getting the dealers and users off our streets.
I volunteer for the Richmond Police Dept (RPD) and on November 17, 2005, graduated from the Neighborhood Assistance Officer Program (my husband, Bill, and son, Michael* have been Neighborhood Assistance Officers for 10 years). I was interviewed by WTVR Channel 6 because we are the the first family to become NAOs.

I designed and still do most of the writing for the Citizen Police Academy's alumni association's newsletter called "Citizen's Academy Monthly," and our Neighborhood Assistance Officers newsletter called "NAO Monthly Dispatch." I am "Newsletter Editor & Chief" of both.
I became a Licensed Practical Nurse because I loved caring for people. But, now I find many of the same rewards working with people as a church secretary at Hardy Central Baptist Church in Varina.
I have won over 30 ribbons for crafts and baked goods, at the VA. State Fair. I love to fish, dove hunt, crafts, write (I have had several articles printed in the civic association newsletter.)
Although I have not worked on the reunion committee since our 30th, I have enjoyed the years that I did.
I have added to my jobs, teacher's aid at my grandchildren's Christian private school. I work with 2nd graders, do the newsletter for the 2-5 grades and will be helping with the 2008-09 yearbook.
