Nancy's Story
Life
I attended Brentwood Elementary, Kirby Junior High, and Jackson High School
I lived in the Brentwood or Springfield area during elementary and Junior High, and in the Lake Forest area, one block from Lake Forest Baptist Church, during my high school years.
I worked with Southern Bell (in the mail room) after graduating, then for GoodHousekeeping Gas Co.(in Norwood) That is where I met my husband, Warren. We married in 1959. Our first daughter was born in 1961, a second daughter in 1963(she was born with a heart defect and only lived one day) and a third daughter born in 1968.
I have:
4 granddaughters,
1 grandson,
? great-grandsons,
? great-granddaughters. (too many to keep up with)
I have been married (to the same man) since 1959. During this time we have lived in Jacksonville,Fla., Ft. Myers, Fla., Brunswick, Ga. and Evans, Ga.(just outside Augusta). We even lived for about a year in Pensacola Beach, Fla. Warren has been in the heating/air conditioning business for about 35 years and MY last endeavor was a porcelain doll shop, where I made porcelain dolls from scratch (or should I say from porcelain slip) A ruptured disk, in November 1999, put a end to lifting those heavy molds, so I'm back to housekeeping and being a secretary! WAITING for the day Warren gets tired of working and WE can retire!!!
NEW: (got tired of waiting for Warr...Expand for more
en to retire, took the exam to be a real estate agent....I passed it and now I have it inactive, until I really need it.
Update: October 2011....still WAITING.....
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Janice McDowell, because she was a good friend I lost touch with after graduation..
My main "sport" right now is Scuba Diving..it's unbelievably peaceful under the water, and so much beauty! My favorite reality show is Survivor.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on a playroom for all my great-grandchildren! . My dream home would be on the water..ocean, lake, river!.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 25% of it to the Church, then spend the rest on my children, all my sisters and save enough to live comfortably the rest of my life.
My current age is 78. When I was 12, I thought that people age 60 was OLD. When I was 60, I thought I was young! I could do most things I did when I was 30....Now that I'm 78, I truly believe that I am OLD!, (but young at heart)....(I can still scuba dive)!
Yes, I just dress the way I feel...don't go with style of the times...
My oldest friend is Norma Edenfield Shepperd. In fact we have the same birthdate! We met while going to Lake Forest Baptist Church, then later worked at the same place.
Bike riding and roller skating all over Brentwood projects, No cares, NO fear!
