Nancy's Story
Early Life
I was born in Kingston, PA and lived there until I was 16. I went to Church St School K-2, Rutter Ave 3-6, Schuyler Ave for 7th, then 8-10 at Kingston HS. My family then moved to Shillington, PA and I went to Governor Mifflin HS my junior and senior years.
College
I went to Syracuse U my freshman year. Then I transferred to Temple U. and went to their small, rural Ambler Campus outside of Philadelphia, my sophomore year. My junior year I went to the main campus in North Philadelphia and lived in a hi-rise dorm. My senior year, I lived in an apartment in Center City, took the subway to my classes. So every year I had a totally different experience, and it was great. I majored in social work, and got a BSW degree.
Work
After college, I first worked as an employment interviewer, working with employment- handicapped individuals, in Reading, PA. I worked briefly for the federal government in San Francisco in '71. Back in PA, I worked as a caseworker in child welfare, first in Altoona and then in Pittsburgh. I was a caseworker at John Kane Hospital in Pittsburgh '74 - '78. I then moved to Florida, worked as an intake supervisor in child welfare, then fr...Expand for more
om '80 - '84 as Director of Social Service at a hospital in New Smyrna Beach. Since then I have been a stay-at-home mom and volunteer.
Family
I have two sons, now 25 and 23, and I have a 4-yr-old granddaughter. The older son and his wife and daughter live fairly close and I see them often. The younger one is a year out of college and in the process of relocating from Tampa, FL to Austin, TX. I look forward to visiting him there. I am separated, but in a long-term relationship.
Lifestyle
I love Florida and especially New Smyrna Beach. It is a small, quaint, very friendly beach town, with a lot of restaurants, antique shops, art galleries, bed and breakfasts, etc., about 20 miles south of Daytona Beach, and about 60 miles from Orlando. The weather is gorgeous and it's a great place to live. I live about 2 blocks from the beach - almost never go there, but like it being there - I can hear the waves at night. Love to travel, but also love coming back home. I enjoy dancing, singing karaoke, playing cards, garage sales and auctions, audio books in the car, word puzzles and computer games, watching TV.
I would love to hear from any old classmates or friends.
