Nancy Pigman:  

Life After obtaining my BS at Pepperdine College, I taught school at Drew Junior High and was a social worker in the Long Beach welfare district, both in Los Angeles County. I had married my childhood sweetheart, Jim Davis in 1966 and the marriage was soon annulled (no children, no relationship). In 1969 I remarried: Roger Cooper, a sailor stationed in San Diego,whom I had met through mutual friends. When he left the Navy, we moved to his hometown of Holgate, Ohio and I became a farmer(one of my childhood dreams), raising chickens and over 400 acres of soybeans, corn, wheat, and oats. Roger died young in 1978 at age 31 from an aortic anneurism. During our short 9 1/2 year marriage I also worked in the family owned "dime store" (remember those?). Our firstborn (John 1970) had Schwartz Syndrome, then we lost a baby, then our daughter Laura (1972) had kidney difficulties. I had cancer and therefore a hysterectomy by age 25. So we were blessed to get our children at all. After Roger passed away I was able to obtain a job as a truant officer for the entire county (that's how lightly populated the area was, plus how "untruant" kids were in Henry County). The next year (1979) I married my present husband Charlie Pigman, whose son David (1969) is just 10 months older than my son John. In 1984 Charlie was hospitalized until 1986 for Guillain Barre Syndrome.
