Nancy's Story
I've been very happily married since 1987; my husband and I have collected many, many dogs and cats over the years, but no children. (As Shawn says, this way, we get to keep all the toys for ourselves.)
I've spent a lot of time at colleges and universities, getting a BA and an MA in English, focusing on the American Novel, and then teaching for a while. But, remember, I like to have enough money for toys, and it turns out that teaching Engl...Expand for more
ish is more or less a subsistence career. So I switched to a career that I never even knew existed when I was in high school: technical writer. It lets me learn things and write--two things I really enjoy. I'm head of the training and documentation department for a small software company where I work with brilliant programmers, play with software, write about how to use it and how it works, teach others about it, and find ways to improve it.
