Nancy's Story
September 18, 2023
Hi there! I would love to keep in touch with people from class.
I moved back to Waterford in 1993 after marrying a man who was in the first graduating class of Waterford High (my second marriage).
I have two daughters, Tammie and Heather, and my husband, Jim has a son, Jeff. I have a granddaughter, Taylor, and a grandson, Chase. (both from Tammie). And in 2024 my daughter, Heather, and her husband adopted three boys, Jase, Lucas, and Edgar (2, 4, 6 years old at the time).
I was a single parent for about 12 years and raised my children on my own with no alimony or child support while building my own business.
After 25 years of owning my financial planning and asset management practice, I sold it in 2007. Since then, I have been an international speaker, author of 3 award-winning books, business coach, and, since 2018, a delegate to The United Nations for The Commission on the Status of Women, working with thousands of women all over the world. What an amazing and educational experience that is! I also write and teach 4-hour online classes to financial advisors, insurance professionals, and divorce attorneys to assist them in maintaining their licenses.
I love what I do and how I am able to make a difference in the quality of ...Expand for more
people's lives.
I am a Guardian Ad Litem for the State of CT to be a voice in court for children in foster care or an abusive home.
I am the treasurer of a non-profit organization and on the board of two others. I enjoy helping out where I can.
I mentor a group of former sex-trafficked young ladies in Ghana, helping them to build their own online virtual assistant business.
I love to travel and have been to many places both for business and pleasure. I have been to Egypt, Rome, Venice, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, Czech Republic, Iceland, Ireland, South Africa, England, France, Israel, Alaska, Cuba, Across Canada, and many others.
In my spare time I enjoy digital photography and scrapbooking, and do a lot with the computer. I sew when I can and designed and made my wedding gown from scratch. (Years ago I had no money and learned to sew out of necessity. Now I do it for relaxation.)
I took care of my grandchildren twice a week and four weeks in the summer for 20 years and absolutely loved it! They are now grown, one in medical school and the other in college. I go to my daughter in Florida often to help out with the three boys.
Well, I think that gives you a general idea of my life. I would love to hear from you. Let's keep in touch :)
