Nancy's Story
Life
After high school ended I was working at Prime Cut or the 'Big Cow' for all the Grand Junctionites. Knowing that my life really wasn't going anywhere I decided to take one of the few options out of GJ and joined the Army in 2000. After going to Ft Jackson, SC for Basic Training I spent my first few weeks getting into the groove then winded up breaking my ankle in the 6th week of training. So what should have been 9 weeks turn into 9 months. I recovered and finished up then left for my AIT at Ft Gordon, GA. There is where I met my husband, Darius and though it is well known that AIT couples rarely last we have learned to climb some mountains. e child I was pregnant with. Something I will never regret especially after Sept 11. After Germany we went to Hawaii for our next duty station. Darius was then accepted in 2006 to go to Warrant Officer School so we moved back to Ft Gordon which is where Darius did his training.
We've moved again after Darius finished his training and are now living again in Germany. Our daughter, Trinity started school in '06 and is doing really well. We had our second daughter Maia in '06, is over 2 now and is quite a handful.
I have loved being able to travel and see many new places but I think I am done with living overseas. The military has given us many opportunities and even though it takes a lot more than it gives, I can't regret the decisions we have made.
