Nancy's Story
Life
I am married and the mother of two children, born in 1988 and 1991. I recently retired as Clinical Laboratory Scientist at a small family practice clinic. I volunteer for ERAs Senior Network and at church, where I'm on the Outreach Committee, Worship Committee and Music Committee. Also head up the Crafts For a Cause group. I enjoy catching up with old friends via the Internet!
College
I was a commuter to Marquette University. Didn't have a car until Sophomore year so I rode two city buses to get to and from school. Freshmen year had season tickets to the MU basketball games, and they won the NIT that year. Was in Alpha Delta Theta the professional Medical Technology sorority and got to go to some national conventions. Went to New Orleans one Spring Break....four people in a Volkswagen!!!! e interested in getting the co-eds alone in his office than he was teaching. Had a "hippie" Anthropology prof who would run down the aisle and leap onto the desk and sit cross-legged on it to teach. The medical courses were a b....h and still amazed I passed!
Workplace
Before I started college, I worked one summer at Allen-Bradley. While I was in college, I worked summers and Saturdays at St. Michael Hospital in the lab. When I graduated, I was offered a job at Deaconess Hospital, where I worked in Hematology and taught the interning Medical Technology students. Got my Specialist in Hematology in 1980. We became Good Samaritan Medical Center and moved to the Lutheran Hospital site in 1984 where I worked until I had my first baby in 1988. I started working part time at Sussex Family Practice in 1989 and continue to work there when it became Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group-Sussex. Was "retired" in 2012 after the clinic went paperless. Enjoying it immensely!
