Nancy's Story

Hi! I was the shy blond gal on campus - Ladera Elementary school 61'-'63 and then TOHS in'64-'68, never feeling quite like I was good enough. Oh the woes of being a pre-teen and teen. Do you remember me, at all?? I was friendly and I believe fun, so knew many of you, but sort of shy to jump in quickly and make friends easily, unfortunately for me. Can you imagine - I was asked to try out for cheerleader and duh, I was too shy! My loss. I moved to No. California in 1970 with my first husband, Randy. Grass Valley - the Mother Lode country. We didn't last very long as a couple. I was too young, only 17 when we married - and no I wasn't preggies. I thought this was my way to be "independent" but this wasn't the right road to take... at all. I struggled for a few years after we divorced but I did stay in northern California for 30 years there after and was grateful Randy suggested we move there. I lived in the Grass Valley-Nevada City area until 5 years ago. My(now - 2010 - separated) husband, Bruce, and I moved to So. Oregon after we were both laid off. He from a 20 year software job that was outsourced and I had completed an online web designing project - an online learning course for a local company called Performance Learning Systems - my job was complete. I have two grown children, Heidi, 36 and Shaun,33. Heidi lives in Colorado with her husband and two children - my adorable grandchildren - and Shaun and his wife live in Grants Pass, OR. Bruce and I were married in 1992 on a trip to Egypt. What an amazing trip that was. Since we try to plan a trip a year to another country, but it doesn't always work out. We have traveled quite a bit, have seen some wonderful places and met some amazing people. It really helps ones perspective and opens ones heart, I feel, to travel and meet folks from around the world. Our last trip was Nov of 2007 when we took a plein air paintin...Expand for more
g workshop and traveled with Bob Burridge and Explore Guatemala so I could paint. I love painting workshops and this was the ultimate! I currently have a consulting job in Placerville, CA (near Sacramento, but on the way to Lake Tahoe). I am a web designer, although I spent the past two years writing for Ergo in Demand, an online office furniture and monitor arm company in Medford. I loved the copy writing and the research. I have a few web sites on line and a few blogs. If you check out nancy bolton (dot) com and intent design studio dot com you can find out a bit more about me. My email address is there. I really enjoy art, painting and photography. Check my sites out. I am always updating. I was a web designer so of course keep learning new tricks on sites and blog designing. I really have to update design site. I try to live as healthy as I can, eat organic, work out and I do my best to keep a relaxed and positive attitude. I really am grateful for being healthy and alive and draw a big happy face on each day on my calendar to remind myself there is a lot to be grateful for. Some of my favorite (help to keep a positive outlook) books include "Loving What Is" by Byron Katie, and "Feeling is the Secret" by Neville. Also Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth." (I also love a good novel and historical novels too so I am not just stuck on self-help.) I hope that you remember me, and those that do or don't recall who I am - are having a wonderful life, enjoying the moments, and feel hopeful for your future. Whether passing in the halls at TO High, spending time together, sharing a class, a date, or enjoying a few laughs in the quad or the cafeteria, it was a blessing to know each and everyone of you. I wish you well. Onward - a new tomorrow awaits. Warmest Regards to all my fellow classmates and your families, Nancy Bolton-Rawles Ashland, OR and Camino, CA Class of '68
