So I moved to Des Moines, IA from Omaha, NE (Millard High School) in Jan '73 in the middle of my sophomore year after my dad died. I started attending Lincoln High School. I met the guy that would become my husband right after my Jr year. I graduated from Lincoln in Jan '75. I married in Oct of that same year to the man I thought I would stay married to forever. Turns out things have a way of changing...especially when you weren't expecting it or even wanting it.
We had 6 children. We divorced in Aug '11 after almost 36 years together. I'm raising the youngest 2 (who are boys ages 10 & 11) pretty much by myself.
I have worked for the same company for over 34 years and hope to early retire in another 2 or so.
My mom is still living and is 85. I am her caregiver, even ...Expand for more
though she still lives alone...for now.
so now I start the next chapter in my life...whatever that is. Just starting to look into dating. WOW...is that ever scary!! There are some really odd people out there...lol! Me?...I'm the most normal person I know! lol! I still keep in touch with some girls from Millard. It's funny how time and distance doesn't change your relationships with the friends you were close to as kids. I hope to get together with some soon! There are many kids from Millard I remember...some fondly, some not so much...but hey...we were all kids finding our way. I'd like to think we're past that now and could be accepting of those who maybe didn't treat us as kindly as they should have back in the day. Myself included!
