Nancy's Story
Hello Knights,
I've had quite an adventurous life. I am a Christ follower, and have served in ministry to teens most of my life,
I joined the USAF in 1975. I drove heavy equipment and was a carpenter and then cross trained into Social Actions Drug/Alcohol office. After 4.5 years, I was discharged and finished my college ed at UNM.
I always wanted to be an actress in musical theater when I grew up. I joined the staff of Campus Crusade aka CRU in 1986. I earned my living in musical theater and drama for several years. We traveled the country and worked with mid-schools, high schools and colleges. Our themes dealt with hard hitting topics such as: Suicide, Cutting, Teen Pregnancy, Drug and Alcohol abuse, Dysfunctional families.... and more We worked in tandem with both secular and Bibilcal counseling staff from each school, in which we performed and led discussions.
I moved into radio as an assistant event coordinator, here in ABQ, NM. I loved the behind the scenes service. Nothing like taking band members clothes to the laundromat, washing fluffing and folding LOL. In 2005, I moved into the USFS.
My favorite part was working fire all over the USA, as a Base Camp Manager, dur...Expand for more
ing fire season. My 2nd favorite job for the FS was going to schools with Smokey Bear... one of my favorite guys! And my over all favorite job was updating our district's web page and revamping descriptions of our picnic sites and trails.
I retired from the US Forest Service in December of 2018.
I'd love to hear from all of you. Drop a line.
Retirement has brought me happiness.
I have been writing about different segments of my life to share with my family. I was given a scholarship to write about my service in the Air Force and have continued w/ others in my class by meeting on Zoom for 1 hr on Thursday evenings to contunue hoaning my story telling skills.
-Started volunteering at High Desert Hospice and it is so rewarding.
-Been taking Bible study courses with Community Bible Study International aka CBS. We are finishing up the Psalms. The history of the people and places and happenings with the politics of the time, corrupt religious leaders ... not much has changed in 1900 plus year, that is for sure.
Life is good. I have been blessed with relatively good heath. God is so good to me and I am thankful for he loves this old imperfect mess of a woman just the way I am.
