Nancy's Story

It is amazing to me how fast the years have flown since I graduated from LHS in 1954. Sometimes I do some deep thinking to see if the 1954 girl who lives in this ladie's body is really the same person. Although the physical 'look' has changed, she is still the same 'gal from a small town' who worked in a large city and now lives in a medium size city. I enjoy life here in the country but I still enjoy being in a large downtown surrounded by the tall buildings and bustling energy that goes with a city. Then I return to my house located near cornfields of central Indiana and enjoy this settling life. Four children have filled my life with true enjoyment, and brought to my life ten grandchildren who fill me with such love and completeness. I know that my life will not be long enough to watch them grow into later adulthood but I will hang on to love them here on earth as long as I can. Aftern 51 years of marriage, my husband Jim passed to his eternal rest. He had many health issues in his later years but we did enjoy a great life in the earlier years. I always have projects going on ~ probably will not finish many of them but am working to accomplish an end to as many as I can. I have so many hobbies ~ I think that comes from being interested in so many things. Sewing has always been a love of mine, since my school and 4H years. I was so excite...Expand for more
d to be able to make wedding dresses for my three daughters, and last year a veil for my granddaughter to wear in her wedding. When my family was younger I did a lot of sewing and loved it! I also love to quilt, I love craft ideas, mostly to use in decorating my home - another love, interior decorating, I studied in Louisville for that. Reading is enjoyable to me ~ love to hold a favorite book in my hands. I love to write, and have always loved poetry. I was fortunate in the 1980s and 1990s to have a poetry column in a local newspaper, and also to write some freelance stories. For over 25 years I have been secretary to the LHS alumni group ~ I have 'hung' in there all this time for these reasons: I enjoyed my years at Lexington schools, and I enjoy seeing other graduates at least once a year. As long as I have the energy and can continue I will. All of the above says one thing ~ I love Life. I am thankful to my God for giving me the desire and energy to be interested in all the blessings given to me. I pray that all peoples everywhere could know the peace and joy that comes from the Lord and Savior ~ that doesn't seem possible in this world, but hopefully I can reach those in my corner of this world and spread the Good News with my life. All the chapters of my life have been great including my years at Lexington High School in Lexington Indiana
