Nancyjo's Story

I am now a retired High School English teacher. I taught in the North Middlesex Regional School District for 34 years, mostly at the high school level, and also spent one and a half years elsewhere. I retired two years ago, in July, 2006, and am loving every minute of it. I graduated from Fitchburg State in 1971, married my college sweetheart and had 2 awesome sons! They, in turn, have given me four beautiful grandchildren - 3 girls and 1 boy. Being retired affords me the time to spend with my grandchildren, which I love to do! I've had many interests. Besides teaching full time, and being a full time single Mom, I ran kids to baseball, hockey, street hockey, chess matches, tennis matches, band events, CCD, etc. They kept me pretty busy. heir wings I became President of my local Teachers Association, a position I held for seventeen years. I also began to work as a negotiator for the Massachusetts Teachers Association, something I continue to do on a part-time basis. I love to travel and still take groups of students abroad. We've travelled to England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland, Paris, Greece, Italy, Sicily and Canada. It has been a wonderful opportunity and fulfills my "need" to be involved with kids even though I'm retired. Lastly, I love to go to Florida. I bought a home there four years ago, just in time to get hit by Charley and the string of hurricanes that followed. My brother and my sister both live near me so it's nice to have family here and there. I'm always interested in hooking up with old friends, so please email me. We had a great time at our 40th reunion. I wish more of you could have been there!
