Naomi's Story
School
I attended Mingo Central Elementary in first and second grade, Stark Elementary for 3 months of third grade, Lincoln Elementary the remainder of third grade and also fourth grade, Edgewood Middle School in Weirton, West Virginia for grades 5 through 9 (except for the last 3 weeks; those last 3 weeks at Springfield High School in Amsterdam, and grades 10 through 12 at Jefferson Union High School, where I graduated. The next 4 years were at The College of Steubenville, where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and teaching certification.
I taught for 2 years at Washington Elementary School in Steubenville and really loved it.
I met my future husband, David, in high school - he graduated from Springfield High School and joined the Marines. When he got out of the Marines, he got a job at the Hoover Company in North Canton. We got married and I continued teaching in North Canton. I took some time off from teaching when my children were born and growing up. We had three children....Mark Davi...Expand for more
d, Michelle Ruth, and Sean Patrick.
Mark is now an engineer at Babcock and Wilcox and got married in October 2008 to Jenn Eagle of Canton.
Michelle graduated from Case Western with a Masters Degree in Social Psychology and works as a crisis specialist. She married Michael Bradley in October 2003, or as I call him, "the best son-in-law in the world.":)
Sean graduated from Kent State with a degree in Criminal justice studies and married Krisanne Meeusen in September 2006. They have two children...Bradley and Kyle.
Our children and grandchildren are the joy of our lives. They have truly been a blessing.
I really miss the Ohio Valley and Jefferson County. My one great tragedy was the loss of my mother, Ruth Wine, who was killed in an auto accident in 2000. The trips through East Springfield and Richmond hold bittersweet memories now. But I still love Steubenville, my birthplace.
When my youngest child was in 6th grade, I went back to teaching in the preschool field and recently retired from there.
