Nate's Story
Since graduating from GAHS I have moved to Tampa, FL. I originally came down for college and attended the University of South Florida, however during my fours years at USF I caught the southern fever and can't see myself being anywhere else. I love the Tampa area, there is an endless amount of things to do here and the atmosphere is far more relaxed than some of the major cities up north. I'm sure it has something to do with the area being within an hour of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
I graduated USF with a degree in Political Science (which I find funny because my worst subjects in high school all related to the Government and Politics) and originally had intentions of pursuing law school. Upon graduating I needed to find a full-time job and was having difficulties finding positions in the legal field beyond part-time work; I found myself in a catch 22 because no one would hire me without the experience, and no one would hire me to give me the experience I needed. So I applied to some graduate-level positions and was offered a position as a broker with a local Independent Brokerage Firm. Over the next year I became very...Expand for more
familiar with the securities business and found myself thinking less about law school, and more about the opportunities in my current job. I began developing realtionships with others in my field and found more opportunities as I went.
I am now working as an Independent Advisor with JPMorganChase Bank in Tampa. I enjoy my work, not just because of my interest in the investing process, but also the relationship aspect of it. Spending your days listening to others tell their stories gives you a more diverse outlook on how things work in this world and helps you understand what's important.
Outside of work, I try to spend as much time as I can with my better half and friends; no kids yet, just a dog. I try to stay active, playing on a co-ed softball team and taking martial arts. My favorite pastime though is still, and always will be, sitting on the couch and doing nothing.
For those of you who got this far down, I appreciate you taking the time to read about what I have been up to, I know I can be a little long-winded at times. Outside of that, I hope things are going well for you and I'm sure we'll run into eachother again eventually.
