Nathan's Story
Life
I am married to my wife Roberta and we passed our 22nd anniversary in January. We don't have children, so our 3 dogs are our surrogate children (A Rhodesian Ridgeback/Great Dane mix, an Australian Shepperd/Sheltie mix, and an English Pointer mix). We live in Santa Ana in a 1928 English Tudor in a semi-historic district ( and fortunately paid off with the run-up in housing prices here in Orange County). I've spent untold hours restoring, renovating, and adding on to the structure. We have a show garden that has been on a number of home tours over the years and also has been an attraction to Pleine Aire artists.
I've been a programmer for 24 years and more recently have added teaching to my repertoire in the Tustin Adult school 2 nights per week. I commute to my job at UCI in the Admissions office on my bicycle - getting in about 220 miles per week. Roberta is an Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer at a mine in Corona working for a "small" company called 3M.
I have been involved in various groups and organizations over the years, including President of the Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society, President of the Orange County Iris and Daylily Club, and other affiliations. I have been involved in various sports activities including shotokan karate, 100 meter flat track speedskating, basketball, softball, league volleyball, and some organized century rides.
The most important relationship in our lives in our relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ and the work He performed at the cross. We have been members of a local in church in Orange for almost 17 years and we rely upon the support of our "family" there. Though we don't know what tomorrow brings, we are assured that we are in the care of the Lord and he will provide and keep us safe. If He calls us home tomorrow, we know that we have accomplished what He desires for us to do in this life.

ruck that I drove in High School and have recently had to do some more work due to brake failure and an ensuing minor collision. There is something about the pleasure of working on a vehicle that doesn't have a lot of parts, unlike today's ilk with complexity written all over them.
Workplace
I am currently a Programmer Analyst and the supervisor of the Records group in the Admissions and Relations with Schools department at the University of California at Irvine. As a programmer, I end up wearing multiple hats - System Administrator of our Sun servers, Network Administrator for our Microsoft backbone, PC support, security support, email support, hardware/software installer, and once in a while, a little programming.
I am teaching 2 classes in the evening with the Tustin Adult School relating to computer technologies. I have a beginning class and a Beginning/Intermediate Excel class. The primary focus is upon Microsoft Office 2003/XP suite with other things thrown in.
I have also been free-lancing on the side for friends and the like when the ubiquitous PC with the Microsoft product suite becomes jammed or completely infected. I've learned quite a bit about ridding a machine of viruses and the like.
My previous job was with a software provider where I performed C/C++ coding for realtime data mediation and realtime billing for cellular, wireless, and VOIP carriers. With the downturn, the company eventually laid off some long time personnel like myself.
Before that, I worked for Pactel Cellular, which became Airtouch, which became Vodaphone, and is now Verizon Wireless.
Prior to this, I worked at Logicon in San Pedro working on contracts with Strategic Air Command - primarily a programmer for the SIOP Mating and Ranging program.
Prior to Logicon, I worked for Dyncorp in Norco and performed programming work for Navy Civil service personnel on the Standard Missile 1 and 2 programs.
