Neal's Story

A warm "HELLO" to all of my dear friends! Here are some details regarding my life from May 1994 to present. I moved to Rogers Arkansas (far Northwest corner of the state) as a result of downsizing at AT&T (3800 Golf Rd / Rolling Meadows, IL) in March 1994, where I had worked since early 1971, when it was known as Western Electric. Due to force reductions I was laid off from AT&T in late May of 1994 with just over 20 years of service, so I moved to Rogers, Arkansas to be near my folks and continue my career. I found a job at House of Webster in Rogers as I.T. Administrator / Customer Service Representative. I worked at House of Webster from March 1996 through my retirement at the end of 2012. House of Webster is a family-owned food gift company that also caters to commercial/industrial wholesale accounts. Through the years, House of Webster demonstrated its appreciation for my particular skill-set and provided me many challenges to my potential. I look forward to occasionally visiting the office to work on assorted tech issues and visit my old co-workers. I own a 4-bedroom home in a quiet subdivision and am still single (yep! I haven't met my match yet it seems). I had planned to retire to Arkansas with a full 30 years service from AT&T, but ended up moving about 9 years early due to the aforementioned ongoing force reductions. I took advantage of my new career change by moving only 7 miles from my parents; thus I have been able to spen...Expand for more
d these past years with them in my life. My mom passed on April 27, 2005. My dad, age 92 as of March 2015, is still doing pretty well at this writing. Rogers is a great town with many warm & friendly people! It is just far enough south to mitigate the harsh winters that are so prevalent in the Chicago area, yet preserves the individual identity of each of the four seasons. Now that I'm retired, I find single life to be very lonely at times, though if the right person comes along, I would love to have a soul mate. The single life DOES, however, afford me independence of action. I am always delighted to hear from any of my fellow classmates from Edison Elementary School, Haley Elementary School, Morton West High School (though I was only there until mid-sophomore year) or Western Electric/AT&T in Rolling Meadows, IL. Although I didn't end up staying at Morton West until 1969 (my parents moved during the big Chicago snow of '67) I nonetheless identify more closely with that group since many are friends from my early childhood. After 9-11, life has become way too short, and the things that count most in my life are my ties to all of my friends and my family. Please keep in touch and spread the word about registering with CLASSMATES.COM if you are in touch with others from our graduating class! My best wishes to you all! Thanks so much for reading!
