Life
Hello to all my Alhambra classmates! I'd love to hear from any of you! I'm currently in the Philadelphia area after living in the San Francisco area for quite a while. I missed the get-to-gether this past November, but hope to make it out there if there is another gathering. Say hello if you remember me.
School
When I started at Alhambra, construction wasnt complete yet...do you all remember that? It was such a great place to be, as I recall.
I hated language (I took latin!), but loved all the math classes, science classes, history and specially the humanities class. Do any of you remember Ms. Moss?
I loved the trips the science club would take every now and then, loved working in the dispensary for the bio dept. Had a very strange relationship with the dept head, Norbert Konzel...is he still around? (i'd love to get to chat with him a bit).
and I loved the Drafting classes too.

Workplace
My first for-pay job was with the Maricopa County Health Dept, summers, while i was in high school. I worked in the county lab, where i learned lab protocol from professionals!
My father was a mechanical designer and I took drafting classes in high school. My first job out of high school was with NCR in Phoenix doing drafting work in the summer of '66. When I moved to Philadelphia later on in that summer, I also got work there as a drafter.
So, even though I went to college for biology, I worked and paid my way by being a drafter.
Now, after almost 40 years in the field, I'm a (very) senior mechanical designer.
Way back when, all work was done on the drafting table with pencil, ink etc. I taught myself computers beginning in '78 and now do all my work on my P3 tower computer here at home. The old drafting board is in the basement as a work table.
