Nelson's Story
Life
No I have not dropped off the face of the earth. I am married and have been living in Stuttgart, Arkansas since 1970. I have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.I have worked for the Stuttgart School system for Over 30 years, as a history teacher, principal and assistant to the superintendant.
I retired after the2005-2006 school year, but they desperately needed someone to fill in so they called me and I said I would. I plan to travel and visit family and friends once my temporary stint as vice principal is over...again. But first I have to catch up on alot of "honeydos", so don't look for me any time soon.
School
I started in the field of education at the age of four. I attended kindergarten at the municipal building in Waldwick, NJ. I then attended St. Luke's Grammar School for six years. I was then removed from the Saint, to Waldwick Public Schools for seventh and eigth grade. All of us Waldwick students then had to travel to Midland Park for our secondary education. This was a great experience. I realized as the years have passed, that I missed many an opportunity to better educate myself at this High School. rs ,who put up with me, held me in good stead as I continued with my education. After high school I and afellow Parker, Damon Lesbines, took an educational adventure. WE traveled to Henderson State University, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, sight unseen. I graduated from Henderson in 1970. Damon left the school in 1968. When I greduated I was married to a girl from Arkansas and had a degree in secondary ed. Majored in History and minor in PE. After teaching in Stuttgart, AR. for a number of years I went to Graduate School at the University Of Arkansas. I graduated with a Master of Education degree,with a certification in Secondary Administration. I returned to Stuttgart an have been in administration ever since 1984. I have been a principal in both secondary and elementary schools in Stuttgart. I have been in charge of Maintenance Building and grounds, transportation an administrative assistant to the superintendent of schools. I currently am director of Adult Education for Arkansas County. This has really been a journey of education in more ways than I could ever have imagined. I did not even like Kindergarten, but I have been in school since the age of four!!Education is a lifelong journey and has great rewards.
