Nicholas's Story
I went to Jordan Junior High School from 1961 to 1964, Palo Alto High School from 1964 to 1967, San Jose State College in 1967-1968, Stanford University from 1968 to 1971 (B.A.), 1971-1973 (M.A.), 1973-1983 (Ph.D).
I worked in food service at Stanford University from 1965 to 1970. Later I served as a grader and a teaching assistant in History at Stanford University (1971-1983), a library specialist at the Hoover Institution (1976-1981), and a bookseller for Books, Inc. he college and university level at Menlo College, the University of Nevada--Reno, New Mexico State University, Norwich University, and for the past nineteen years at Sam Houston State University. My areas or research interests are geographically Southeastern Europe, Byzantium, Russia, and the Middle East and the thematically military and diplomatic history. I teach a number of courses in these fields, as well as surveys in Ancient and World history. I am am married to Lee Marie (née Brigance) Pappas and we have a daughter Zoe Theoni Pappas.
