Nicole's Story

Life I moved to Denver in 1995 after living in Atlanta for several years. I finally met the right guy, Chip Alger, and got married in 2000. We have 2 great boys- Spence (born 2001) and Chance (born 2004). We moved to Colorado Springs in July 2005. We live just south of the Air Force Academy and can watch the gliders and their tow planes from our backyard.....and the Thunderbirds fly right over our house before AFA football games. It's a great military town and my husband (Army) works at Schreiver AFB in Missile Defense. I'm a stay-at-home mom until the boys are a bit older. I love being active in the kids' schools, their sports, cub scouts and PTO. I love skiing and mountain biking. We do a lot of camping...Expand for more
, hiking and Jeeping. My husband got me into shooting and hunting. My first year out I got a cow elk. I haven't been hunting as much since kids. This year my husband and I packed in our camp and really roughed it, living on jerky, oatmeal and Ramen noodles. It was pretty rough terrain. I did shoot a buck on the second day of the hunt. It was about a 180 yard shot. I'm so glad it was a great shot and I dropped him. It was an incredible experience. My family rotates Thanksgiving at each other's homes, so I get back to Cookeville about every 5 years. It's amazing how much it's growing and how much more there is for kids to do there. I miss water-skiing and the azaleas in Spring, but Colorado makes up for it.
