Nikki's Story
Life
I've been married for 18 years to John, who is a manager at Hewlett-Packard in Boise. We live on a small farm in Emmett, Idaho, with our five daughters, one son, three horses, and two cats. I quit teaching college English several years ago in order to homeschool our children, who are of course brilliant, beautiful, hilarious, and sometimes obnoxious. I seek escape regularly--even if it's just to the shower.
I love to garden, read, quilt, hang out with my goofy friends, book-club hop, and pretend to exercise. I'll schlep over to Big-City-Boise if there happens to be something cultural going on or if I need a Thai fix. I want desperately to be a decent photographer but despite having some really groovy equipment, I'm apparently missing...Expand for more
an essential gene. I also love to travel, and so John and I honeymoon whenever we get the chance (which, sadly, has not been often since I always seem to be either gestating or lactating). Our latest adventure was to Australia and New Zealand in May.
My favorite place to hang out on the web is at Feminist Mormon Housewives.org. Yes, you read that right. I've become annoyingly liberal (for a Mormon)(and an Idaho housewife)(and a homeschooler)(but probably not for an English teacher)(even though my multiple use of parentheses belies my profession)(and probably makes you wonder what kind of homeschooler I am)(but since I'm a homeschooler and buck the system I must not care).
