Nikki's Story
Let¿s see 20 years in a nutshell?
Shortly after graduating I traveled to Europe to visit friend (and fellow classmate Doreen Hrivnak) which was such an exciting trip to many new places. Along with her sister we traveled to Germany, France and Italy, which gave me my first glimpse of the world outside of California (yes a little sheltered). The trip was all too short and had to get ready for the school year. I went to Yuba College for 2 years before transferring to Chico State as a Liberal Studies major. My years in Chico were busy, as I worked full-time at the Holiday Inn while going to school. I did manage to find some time to socialize and make some life long friends. I finished with my B.A. and then continued on to get my teaching credential. When I got my teaching credential there wasn't much hiring going on in Northern California, so along with a friend we were hired to teach 1st grade at Ft. Irwin army base. dy to be out of the dessert and back to Northern California where trees are green, and the four seasons are evident. I got a job in Roseville teaching 1st grade in the Dry Creek district and have been here ever since. Shortly after arriving to Roseville I joined the city volleyball league, which is where I met my husband, Jason. We enjoyed a trip to Ireland and Belgium on our honeymoon, which involved a lot of "planes, trains, and automobiles," but was such an amazing trip. (We even got to kiss the infamous blarney stone.) I am currently teaching part-time, so I can balance life with 2 little ones (Kaci 3, and Megan 14 months) at home with the ever so rewarding role as a reading specialist. We spend most of our free time camping, boating, and traveling in our new travel trailer. My parents still live in YC in the same house, as well as a few friends, so I make it back a few times a year. But I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone at the reunion!
