Nola Rae's Story
Life
I have been divorced many, many years and live alone with my dog, Chloe. My life has been full of surprises and a few disappointments, but always full of happiness.
I lived in Cedar Hill 33 years before moving to Emory, Tx, in Nov, 2002. In April, 2003, my children moved me to Sulphur Springs to be nearer to them and my grandkids, which is where I have been since. I have 3 sons and a daughter (and their spouses), 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a 5-1/2-year-old chihuahua named Chloe, which all keep me pretty busy.
From 1976 to 1990, I worked as secretary to the Engineering Department at Standard Manufacturing Co., Inc in Oak Cliff. I worked at a small company near Mockingbird and Central Expressway for about 8 months and then was Engineering Secretary and, later, Secretary to the Controller at Dresser Oil Tools until Halliburton bought us out, at which time I went to Archon Group in Las Colinas working on the Help Desk in IT. In 2001, I retired and later left the Cedar Hill/Duncanville/Dallas area. At present, I am mostly retired, having joined the Mary Kay organization to help fill my time, and I love being a part of it.
When my 4 children were growing up, the 5 of us traveled all over the U.S. during summer vacations and...Expand for more
had wonderful times taking lots of pictures and seeing lots of sights.
I love the Cowboys and never miss a game. I also love going to the movies, attending events here in Sulphur Springs, basically hanging around town, and taking my grandkids to various events. We have fall festivals, fireworks display on the Square (where the county courthouse is) with the band playing on the 4th of July, flea markets on the Square, classic auto shows on the Square, stew contests, chili cookoffs, carnivals, Trunk or Treat on the Square on Halloween, and various other events that I enjoy attending. It is always fun to shop around on the Square at antique shops, half-price handbags shop, fabric shop, the Plain and Fancy Sandwich shop, and a variety of others. People come from all around to visit our shops on the Square. We also have parades on the Square and through town for various occasions, such as Christmas and St. Patrick's Day.
Would love for former high school friends to email me, and perhaps we can exchange phone numbers and keep in closer touch.
After seeing Twilight, I have read all four books of the Twilight Saga (within one week) and am now on a vampire kick. Reading has become my favorite pastime, and my daughter and I trade books all the time.
