Norma's Story
Well, who am I? I'm a cat lover, a mom of one son, named Seth,who is 18, a wife of a PE coach named Russ. I am learning how to find my roots. Just started searching for my ancestors.It's not as easy as I had hoped, but it's interesting. I make miniature furniture for doll houses. I am building an 1890's town in my house. Drives my husband and son a bit nuts every now and then. I have 9 cats, 2 large dogs, and a peahen who visits on a regular basis because she likes cat food and peanuts. I grew up on Sylvan Ridge Drive and was a neighbor of Debra Caylor. I left the Sylvan Hills area when I was turning 12, and have since lived in the Chicago area,Guam, New Orleans,and several other places, and I currently live in Florida. I homeschooled my son with my own cirriculum till high school. He had been sick a lot, 5 years ago he got diabetes typ...Expand for more
e 1. The day after he got out of the hospital, he headed to the woods for a paintball game. I sweated it out, wondering how he would handle the blood sugar, but he did just fine... The past 5 or 6 years have been tough... My husband got stomach cancer and lost 75% of his stomach, got celiacs disease and can't eat wheat, etc, he has had diabetes for 33 years so lining up insulin and food absorbtion was a real trip.. Last year he fell out of a tree that he wasn't supposed to be in and broke his neck and back.. Thankfully he didn't sever anything, but surgery and recovery took months. A week after he got back to work, my mom went into the hospital, died a wek later. About 3 months later, my brother Charles died, who had gone to Sylvan High. All in all if I ever see another year like the last one, I hope someone puts me out of my misery...LOL
