Nyla's Story
Life
I'm busy working in Hilo at Waiakea High School. Doing what you ask? I'm the In-School Suspension Coordinator (who would have thought). I teach Character Education and Career Planning.
I have three grown daughters and 2 grandsons: ages: 27 months and 19 months.
I live on agriculture land (3 acres). I have two dogs and 6 puppies, 2 cats, 1 chicken, some chuckers. wild boars (that run through my yard trying to eat my taro). My older grandson is now asking me for a cow, sheep, goat, and every other kind of animal he sees in my neighborhood. My oldest daughter is now saying I can get her a horse. Only thing she lives in Honolulu. She's promising to come home ever weekend to take care of the horse; "Where have we heard this one before?"
Oh, by the way; For anyone reading this; I've recently changed my name from Gordon's twin sister to Nyla Ortiz. Thought that might jog a few memories. I still have people coming and asking me "y...Expand for more
ou're Gordon's twin sister, yeah?" I tell them, "No, I've changed my name to Nyla." I'm looking forward to our 30th reunion. The last time I went to our reunion was the 10th (I think).
Good luck to all of you in your pursuit of happiness. May the Good Lord watch over all of you and take care of all of you.
Workplace
I'm presently at Waiakea High School in Hilo. I'm the IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION COORDINATOR. I teach Character Education and Career Planning. I never thought I'd be at a high school teaching children with bad behavior; but it's been very rewarding and very humbling. I also have a pre-paid legal service business. I have been in different types of job positions such as; management (hired and fired people), secretary, janatorial, office clerk, to name a few (before becoming a para-professional in the educational field). I'm looking at getting into the cohort program to become the principal of a high school or middle school.
