Oona's Story
Life
I was a feather blowing in the wind without any real direction after high school. For anyone who really knew me in high school, that comes as no surprise. I guess inspiration didn't have my correct address, because she found me 8 years after graduation! During this time I was having fun attending DVC and taking courses that just tickled my fancy. My dreams of becoming a Broadway actress or an Astronaut were feeling more like a child staring longing at a fancy cake displayed behind the bakery counter. After a job at a preschool, I decided that working with kids was my (realistic) calling. work full-time I finally graduated this June ('07)! I couldn't have done it without the support of my husband, John. I plan to enter the teacher credential program and teach elementary school. Let's say that I do not take school for granted anymore. It's been a LONG haul but I'm almost there.
Oh, and I should add that I've been married for nearly 10 years now and have two wonderful step-children, Hanna - 16, and Patrick - 14, that live in Texas and visit on school holidays, and a precious daughter of my own, Hayley, who is 3. I still live in the Bay Area, in Walnut Creek. I hope all of you are following your dreams, too. I look forward to reconnecting with you and hearing your stories.
