Oris's Story
Life
Oris W. Dunham, Jr., a native of Missouri, served four years in the US Air Force prior to attending the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the University of Washington in Seattle where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics. In 1978, he was awarded a Diploma from the Harvard Business Schools Program for Management Development.
In 1972, after a 10-year career in aviation-related engineering and sales, he joined the Port of Seattle, which operates Sea-Tac International Airport, and became its Director of Aviation in 1981. In April 1983, he was appointed Deputy Executive Director for operations and administration of the Los Angeles Dept. of Airports, which operates Los Angeles International Airport, Ontario International Airport, Van Nuys Airport and Palmdale Air Terminal. In March of 1986 he assumed the position of Executive Director of the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport where he had the responsibility for the overall administration, operation and development of the facility.

ncil International (AOCI) in 1989/90. He is an associate member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and a member of the US FAA Industry Task Force on Airport Capacity Improvement and Delay Reduction. An active civic and community leader, Mr. Dunham has served as President of the International Northwest Aviation Council, Chairman of the Washington State International Tourism Committee, and has been on the Board of Directors of several trade associations.
On September 1st 1991, he was appointed the first Director General of the Airport Council International (ACI) based in Geneva, Switzerland. During the next six years he guided the organization during its early formation years and established working relationships with all major aviation organizations and represented the worlds airports in the International Civil Aviation Organization. On June 30th 1997, Mr. Dunham stepped down from ACI to start an international aviation consulting and development business. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of Bombardier Services America Corporation and as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ACI-North America Associates.
