Pam's Story

Life I live with my husband (Robert, or Dejo), and my Oreo kitty and our 2 pups, Sya and Sheena, in Castle Rock. I work for AdGent 007, as an Ad Operations Manager. I'm looking forward to more travel (I've hit Europe a few times in the past several years). I've also been spending a whole lot o' time with my pipe band (yes, as in bagpipes). I play the tenor drum, and the silly people have elected me Business Manager, so I spend a lot of time trying to get us gigs. My parents finally moved to Estes Park, so the old house in Paradise Acres is now under new management. But as long as you're here, why not drop me a line? I'd love to hear from the ghosts of my past. School I seemed to have no shortage of crushes, so to list them here would take up too much room. Suffice it to say that I had my share of heartaches and giddy moments, as any highschooler should. As for teachers, there were certainly a few that had a profound influence on my life. Most notably, Mr. Morgenstern, who explained the concept of evolution so clearly and logically that it's impossible for me to imagine someone not understanding this. Creation + Evolution = Duh. Frau Dinkelman is another teacher who has carved a little place in my heart (and my brain!). Ms. Vyduna taught me how to put together a speech; Mr. Sprain taught me how to write an essay (and therefore test out of having to take Comp 101), and Ms. Price put me on the stage when I hadn't even meant to audition. We really had so many excellent teachers, but there are always a few that really change your life. Do we ever think to tell them so at the time? Mostly not. College I don't think I really experienced college as most people are meant to. Being a Theatre major, we had our own versions of the partying scene. Cast parties, late night scene-painting sessions, rehearsals.....all provided plenty of opportunities for trouble-making. :) I did get a few requisite experiences in, though: Football games at Hughes S...Expand for more
tadium, studying under autumn trees on the Oval, avoiding math mods in the Engineering building, laughing with (at?) Roger Culver in Astronomy 101 (how is it that he was married to an an astrologer?), avoiding the goose poop as we crossed the fields by Moby.....Ah,those were the days. Workplace My first job was Taco Bell. $3.25 an hour. My parents didn't want me to work during school (something about "focusing on studies"?), so Taco Bell was my summer job for a couple of years. Red Lobster, What's Hot! (a balloon /card/gift store), and Markley Motors preceded the "aha!" moment when the travel industry seemed to appear out of nowhere, as my destiny. I went to Travel Trade School in Ft. Fun, then took a job at Rail Europe, where I was pretty happy for 5 years. Then an opportunity presented itself at Lionbridge, a translation company. 2 years later, a Lionbridge co-worker left to go work at Trip.com, and I was green with envy -- I wanted to get back into the travel trade. I asked her to let me know if there were any positions there that might fit my skill set, and 2 months later, she sent me the opening that led me to where I am today. The job I was hired for at Trip quickly became one that didn't take up all my time, so I began asking around for chances to help others out. I ended up helping the ad trafficker, and that was the first step on a path that has taken me far. I learned the online ad industry, and have acquired a skill that not many people in the Denver area seem to have. Okay, not many companies in the Denver area seem to have a need for it, so it all fits, but..... After 6½ years at TRIP.com/CheapTickets/Orbitz/Galileo/Cendant/Travelport, I saw an opportunity at ManiaTV. It was a giant change from the corporate environment, and gave me the breath of fresh air I so desperately needed. Exactly one year later, I jumped off that train to join a fledgling company called AdGent 007. Tee hee. Let's see where this ride takes us!
