Pam's Story
Life
A year after graduation I married Gleo Huyck. Moved north to Howe Military School. In '70 moved much farther north to Alaska with a newborn daughter. In '78 gave birth to a second daughter. Gleo taught high school music for several years and eventually became Community Schools Director for our borough, north of Anchorage. We hunted moose and bear, fished for salmon and burbot, mushed dogs and thoroughly enjoyed the Alaskan lifestyle. In fact, we, with the help of another school teacher and a longtime Alaskan sourdough, created the Iditarod Sled Dog Race to Nome in '73. We discovered the Baha'i Faith in '7...Expand for more
5 and have been active within it ever since. Our daughters are grown and have chosen to live in Alaska too. I am not a gramma yet, but I'm hopeful. I run my own business now and in the summer I am Tour Guide on the Alaska Railroad for Princess Tours. It's a job created for me. I get paid to share the beauty and wonders of Alaska with people who come to visit from where you live. I truly have been blessed in my life many times over and I am grateful. I love to travel this world and I love to come home to my Alaska.
