Pamela's Story
Have been happily married to Ron since May, 1969. We have two children, three grandchildren and first great grandchild due December, 2015.
We met on a blind date to the Cotton Bowl in Jan. 68. Ron was my brother, Larry's (Jones 66), roommate in the band at Texas A&M, but decided to join the Air Force before finishing college. After we married, we were stationed in San Antonio for about a year, then sent to Hawaii for a little over two years. Our son was born there in 1971. When Ron left the service, we returned to A&M and he completed his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees while I worked on campus. We moved to Houston for about a year where our daughter was born. On the day she was born, Ron began a new job with Shell Oil that would take us to Irving six weeks later. While with Shell, we finally moved into our first home in Garland. ted elementary school in College Station, I went to work for the school district as a Kindergarten Aide. We were there for 4 years. TI then moved us to Austin for 4 years. I worked for a while at an area bank, then got a job with the credit union at Texas Instruments. In 1991, TI and Texins Credit Union moved us both to the Temple facility and we settled in Belton. Ron retired from TI when they closed the facility here, but continued working with a company that bought a division of TI. Since the facility was closing, so was the Credit Union. I was fortunate to get a job as Admin. Asst. to the Chief at the Belton Police Dept.
In 2010, Ron retired (again) from Acer America and I retired from the Police Dept.
We are now enjoying retirement and being near both of our children and two of three grandchildren. Our oldest grandchild is living in Georgia.
Update: Unfortunately, after 52 years of marriage, I am now widowed. Ronnie passed away in July 2022 after battling cancer for 2-1/2 yrs.
