Pamela's Story

OK so here's my personal factoid: I am currently a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Yes, I deal drugs. Someone has to do it. So what that I spent all that money getting a degree in Psychology. I wish that they had brought us to the Mental Hospital in our FRESHMAN year instead of 2nd semester SENIOR year....then I could have changed my major ! Well it is very helpful to use my psychological know how when dealing with the public. I have been dealing drugs for almost 3 years. I love my job. I love the people that I work with so it is easy to go to work. I got to pick my own schedule ! What more could anyone ask for? On top of that, I live only 3 miles from my work !!! I am also into genealogy. I have been digging around the internet for about 2 years. I can trace my family back to Norway in 1651. I guess we didn't exist before that. More later !! I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong because I went to a university that didn't have an education Major !. The wildest thing that we ever did was @ SMU. The RA lived on the 3rd floor. We took everything out of his room and set it up on the roof. EVERYTHING right down to the shoes under the bed. Then it started to rain !!! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have my Dinkin Donuts Ice Coffee, my pain meds, and my glasses to be able to deal with the day-to-day. You know who my hero is....Barbara Walters ! She is a great women's role model. She came to SMU as part of the Program Council that I was involved in. I thought she was so inspiring that I wrote to her telling her that. She wrote me back a hand written note ! I was impressed. I have lived all over. I was born in Toronto, live in Oakville until the 2nd grade when we moved to Kirkland. I went to Beaconsfield High School until the 9th grade when we moved to Scituate, MA. My then boyfriend and now husband and I moved to Denver, CO so that he could go to flight school. We ran out of money so we had to move home. He does not fly planes now. He had to give up that passion because we were poor :( The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my Mum, because I miss her terribly. I love Boston Sports. How lucky are we to have The Red Sox, The Patriots and the Celtics!! (sorry, Bruins but even though I am Canadian and hockey is supposed to be in my blood, I don't watch it) If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my parent's house and add on a a giant room. ...Expand for more
My dream home would be in Scituate. The teacher that really I connected with was Mr. Matt Brown. Famous for drawing the Building 19 ads. He was my geometry teacher during my senior year. The class was full of sophmores and me the lone senior. He was great. Before we got our schedules, everyone was saying that they hoped that they did NOT get Mr. Brown so when I saw him on my schedule, I was bummed. Turns out I loved him. A couple of years ago I ran into him at a Party store in Pembroke. I thought to my self "I am going to tell him that I loved him as a teacher" so I did. He told me that I made his day. I guess that would be a good feeling if you were a teacher right?? To know that you had some affect on another human being ? If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my sister, then spend the rest on travel, purses and my doggie. Oh boy, Campus life....where would I begin. Memories, like the corners of my mind....Dorm= Jan+Pam, Robin, Sue, Roxanne and a plethora of other characters ! My current age is 46. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be driving flying cars. I was so completely wrong. I would love to be a pharmacist. but at 46, and the thought of finishing at over 50 years old seems impossible. My best friend would tell you I'm Crazy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as nice. Don't have any style due to my weight. If I was a size 6 then I would be broke from shopping. The weirdest job that I have ever had was Bingo the Clown at the Ground Round in Fairhaven. On Saturdays and Sundays I would host birthday parties for small children dressed as a clown complete with Rainbow Afro ! It paid extremely well for 1981 while in college. I share my home with family, which I find peaceful. No trophies on my mantel. I am sad to say that I have never had that one big victory. One do-over is changing my major. What the heck can you do with a BA in Psychology ? Nada. In 10 years, I hope to be debt free. I'm going to get there by robbing a bank. My oldest friend is Michael Lewis, the funniest man on earth. I met him in June 1962 and then he later attended my first bday party in July of '62. I have photos to prove it. All boys at my 1st birthday. John and Michael Lewis, Jimmy and Brian O'Shaughnessy.....all of whom I still know where they are ! My first job was at the Fish market in North Scituate, where I got paid 5.00 to sell fried clams. What I remember most about it is smelling like fish so badly that cats would chase me home.
