Pamela's Story

Life After graduating from Madison in 78 I went to Virginia Tech. I was there only for a year and a half, and left. It just wasn't a good match, but I learned how to shoot a mean game of pool there. I returned to Vienna, and lived at home while attending George Mason University, where I learned the art of studying and getting on the dean's list - which was a great turnaround from my time at Tech. I then went to graduate school at the University of California at Santa Barbara where I received an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology. I worked in a private psychiatric facility with emotionally disturbed adults suffering from everything from schizophrenia to bipolar disorder and everything in between. I loved being near the beach and the mountains and working out at Gold's Gym. I made some of my greatest friends in Santa Barbara, and we still stay in touch. I loved California, and it will always be a second home for me. I stayed until 1990. When I returned to Virginia, I ran into an old friend, Peter Uncles and we began to get together to sing and hang out. I started to fall for him, and when he realized that, he began to fall for me. Three months after our first date, we were engaged and married a year later. We were married May 2, 1992. Sadly, three months after we were married, my mother died suddenly and my world crashed for a while, but Peter and my friends helped me through. We were devastated and I am sorry to have lost her so early. I worked in the mental health insurance industry for a whi...Expand for more
le, then in the children's computer education industry. During this time, I gave birth to my first child, a daughter Tara, born in 1996. She is a joy: artistic and playful and loves to sing. In 1999 we lost our son, Ryan, to a heart defect, and life changed drastically as you are never the same after losing a child. At this time I began to look anew at my life and it was at this time that my career changed for the better and my work with animals began. In October 2000, we welcomed our son Andrew into the world and his light shines on us all every day. Peter and I are so happy together, and are matched so perfectly, it's hard to believe we sat in 7th grade chorus together at Thoreau Intermediate and never gave it a thought. We lived in Reston for 12 years, and moved to Chantilly in May 2004. We have a Golden Retriever named Jesse and a small feisty mixed breed named Lady - both rescues. My dad in in good health, and my sister Vicki is doing great. I am sure there is more, but this is all for now. Thanks for checking in on me. Pamela Workplace I have finally found my niche working with animals as behaviorist. I work with two other masters level counselors doing behavior modification with pets that are exhibiting problem behaviors. We do house calls. Most of our referrals are from veterinarians in the DC metro area. Companion Animal Behavior has a great reputation and I love my work. I am always reading and researching and learning new things and the people and dogs and cats I meet are great.
