Life
From SHS, I went to Northeastern U. on and off for a few years; when Korea broke out, I was activated from reserve status in the Marine Corps to active duty, first at Camp Lejeune, then at Crane N.A.D.(IN), then to 14th replacement draft for Korea; made permanent personnel at Cold Weather Battalion, (CA). Honorably discharged, Sept., '52, went to Notre Dame, graduated with high honors in '55, awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Oxford for two years, received a second Honours B.A., Oxon., '57, and went to Tanganyika as a lay missioner to teach in a Catholic seminary for three year...Expand for more
s. There I met the girl I would later marry. Returned to Oxford to get my M.A.in '61, and came home to the U.S.A. to be married in Minnesota to Charlotte Fasnacht. Taught at Seton Hill College (PA) while working for my Ph.D. at U. Pittsburgh, completed in '65. Prof. of English Lang. & Lit. at U of Oregon, Illinois State U; appointed President of Assumption Callege (Worcester, MA, Loras College (IA), St. Thomas U. (FL), and Misericordia (PA). We have 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren. Retired to Arizona in 1994. Char and I were made Knight and Lady of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, 2001.
