Pat's Story
Life has been a blast, well most of it. After graduating OU I spend 6 years with Price Waterhouse, 5 years in banking, and 6 years in high tech. Somehow I thought that qualified me to run my own consulting company which I did for about 7 years before focusing full time with one of my clients in the Biotech space as their CFO for the past 9 years. Crap, I'm getting old. My oldest son, Sean (35 now) won a couple of NCAA fencing titles while at Stanford and made the 1996 US Olympic foil team. He now has his own club in Manhatten where he coaches promissing young Olympic hopefuls. Kelley (31 now) got her BS at SMU after spending some time on the west coast, is married to a great guy and is an operations director at a large public company in Dallas. She completed her Executive MBA program, last spring. Ali (21 now) is a senior at The Art Institute and carrying a 4.0 gpa. She plans to graduate in December 2011 with a BS in Fashion Merchandising. Dillon (19 now) is an accomplished graffiti artist (yes this is actually art) and a very talented extreme biker (you should see what he can do on a half pipe. I am recently discovering what it is like to be "on my own" after 33 years of marriage. Just enjoying being me, if that makes any sense. Come to Austin and we will go out and hear some of the best live music in the world!
2023 Update
Sold the Biotech and a couple other tech companies, life is even better. Sean still teaching future Olympian’s in NY but now married with two beautiful girls and recently inducted into the US Fencing Association Hall of Fame. Kelley now a Senior VP with same group in Dallas and has a wonderful 9 year boy. Ali a private school asst. principal, married and has two of her own now, 6 and 7. Living out in the Texas Hill country with a lot of anim...Expand for more
als. Dillon is a great young man, homeowner and still single ladies. I remarried in 2015 to a beautiful, smart, (BGSU class of 1992), and a doctor. Still in Austin but get back up to Dayton frequently to see family and friends.
School
Biggest crush ... that would have to be Linda Schmidt class of '73. (also whatever happend to Lisa Price?)
Teachers who inspired me, that would have to go to Chuck Snowden, junior year. He went on to teach at Sinclair and of course has since retired. He was a great guy and a damn good teacher ... I do miss his tank stories.
Crazy stories, would have to be my entire senior year where I was just sort of visiting. Road trips to Sidney, my motorcycle down the Virginia Drive campus hallway, fire extingusiher raids, my VW bug parked on the school lawn blasting the Doobie Brothers through the windows of Accounting II class and breaking in poor Janie Leaver (new accounting teacher).
If I could do it all over again I would work less and play more and get more involved with school activities. High School can be the time of your life if you just take advantage of it. Most of my kids just didn't get that part ... know what I mean?
College
It is 1974 fall quarter at the best party school in the country tucked away in the Hocking Hills of southeast Ohio. Yes we are talking Ohio University and I am talking freshman year third floor Washington Hall. Big Jack "the jock" and walk-on basketball star, Little Jack the crazy drummer, Brian Van Atta my roomy and funky basist, TJ the golden gloves boxer and me ... the party animal. We went nuts for a full year and it is amazing that any of us survived. At 3rd Floor Washington we set the new standard for out of control behavior ... an animal house before there was an animal house. To the memories!
