Patee's Story
Life
After graduating from Warren High in Downey in 1965 I began working at Rockwell International on the space program for 15 years helping put the man on the moon. During this time I also worked in Reliability on the Space Shuttle Program at Rockwell in Downey. I worked for a short while at L'Eggs Hosiery where I met and married my ex-husband Jim. After raising two children at home on about 4 acres of land with horses, goats, pigs, dogs, cats and a cow near San Diego, CA, I began finishing my degree while the kids were in school.
I began a short acting career then worked for lawyers as their marketing and public relations director for nearly 20 years. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Communications from San Diego State University, divorced my husband and found a wonderful fiancee whom I married September 2006 at Mission San Luis Rey. I have three grandchild! We are all friends and love to get together with the children and grandkids for family holidays, school events - it is very peaceful.
After marrying in 2006, I had a bit of questionable luck when I fell down our stairs and broke my elbow and rotator cuff leading to a couple of surgeries which I healed perfectly from - perfect range of motion at my age! I'm back to the gym now and happy to be active.
My greatest pride comes from the fact that my daughter Jaimie-Lyn is a spiritual Catholic woman and that my son, Steve, has been initiated into the Catholic Church at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lakeside, CA at the Easter Vigil 2010. He has been playing his guitar and singing at the church for over two years now and is on a wonderful path. He is a mu...Expand for more
sic teacher at Sumner's Music in San Diego and has students in his home studio where he cares for his preteen son.
Any of you who know my sister Ann Medel or my brother Ken Medel should know that Ann has a daughter and grandaughter but unfortunately has a heart problem and is in the hospital now (July 2010) after brain surgery for a brain bleed caused by blood thinners for her heart attack. Please pray for her - I thank everyone for any blessings sent her way. My brother Kenny is a "Top 10 Insurance Lawyer" in San Diego and defends doctors in medical malpractice cases. I am so proud to be their older sister and love them so much. All three of us are Warren High grads.
If anyone knows my sis Ann and wants to send a message, prayer or good wishes, please send me a message and I will let you know the Website address.
I have been donating my time to a non-profit group, Growing Liberia's Children for almost a year now. This past year, I was able to start a Sister School with Katie Daniel's School in Liberia for my grandson's school Lakeside Farms Elementary with my grandson and son helping with the start up along with Mrs. Fischer, his teacher. Letters were exchanged in a "Pen Pal" situation between the two schools and pictures drawn, etc. to share with our sister school. I was blessed enough to have an article I wrote on this endeaver published in the Daily Californian, the local Lakeside (East County) paper. I will see if I can post the story on Classmates - not sure!
Life is what we make it and I will always count my blessings and be thankful for my wonderful family and friends, past, present and future!
