Patrice's Story
I grew up in Livonia, Michigan along with my older brother, Michael and sister, Dianne in a subdivision called Burton Hollow. I went to Cass (they were both at Stevenson) until the middle of 3rd grade (69) and then my dad took a job in Johannesburg, South Africa. We were all very homesick and returned back to our same house after a couple of years overseas. I returned to Cass in January of '71 but it was short lived and within a few months we moved to Charlotte, NC. That was a hard move since I loved our neighborhood and was so happy to be back at my old school. I did return periodically to visit my friends Kelly Deubel, Melanie Ramsey and the Krogels (who we still keep in touch with). My parents built a house in Farmwood in Mint Hill and I went to Northeast Jr High and high school at Independence and West Charlotte. After graduation, I moved around, a summer in Myrtle Beach and year in Atlanta but always came back to Charlotte. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Bill for 15 years. We met at the Charlotte airport. He still works at the airport, and owns a realty company and I am a stay at home mom. We have two awesome kids, a son 17 and daughter 13. I waited a long time to have kids and they are the light of my life. My son loves baseball, he plays on two teams, recently started playing football for his school and enjoys computer and video games. My daughter loves to dance taking ballet, poinet, modern and horseback riding l...Expand for more
essons. She loves to ride, especially dressage and jumping. She dances in the Nutcracker every year at Wingate College. They both attend a charter school so I spend a lot of time volunteering. We have a huge Golden Retriever, Samson and an Appaloosa horse, Apache. Our family lives in a 90 year old house that we completely renovated in the historic district of Monroe. This is the 4th house we have redone. One was an old rural farmhouse with 25 acres and the other three have been here in town. We love living here, our neighbors are great, we have a progressive dinner club with 25 other couples in the neighborhood so there is always a party going on. We choose different countries or themes for each one. Between all the kids activities, I love working out at the gym, riding our horse and working out in the yard, pretty much anything outdoors I enjoy doing. I have a wonderful life for which I am very grateful. I am still very close friends with Amelia Jolly (Krone), Deborah Smith (Faust), Joanne Rhodes (Gillis) and Jenny Motto (Fox). All of them went to Northeast (except Jenny) and Independence. Every May, the 5 of us go to the beach for a week. We also meet every few months for lunch out or cocktails at Amelia's pool. I have seen Sheila Baxter (Northeast and Big I)the last couple of years at the Union Academy Ball. I don't see anyone from West Charlotte but I was only there for one year. I got on this website hoping there might be a reunion.
