Patricia's Story
Life
I have been remarried for almost 4 years, have a beautiful son who is almost 8 years old and is at the top of his second grade class in the Catholic school system here. I get to go to California to see Bernie Lueders about 3 times a year and do some 4 wheeling in the dunes as a side trip to visiting Mom in Pheonix. It's been a little over 5 years since my brother Tommy died, been a long road, but surviving that and having a son with Aspergers has taught me the most important things in life are your family, true friends and happiness. The other stuff doesn't matter. I try to live my life looking at things with an open mind, an opportunity to learn something I didn't know or help someone who is in need, and not with judging eyes. Life is short, and I want to live it to the fullest, enjoy every moment and go to sleep at night knowing I have been the best person I could have been for that day.
School
The funniest thing happened after high school, I realized that those days were the best days of my life filled with hope, happiness, and family with me. Who would have thought that you would miss those days s...Expand for more
o much? It's funny, back then everything seemed such a major deal, but I would love to be back in those days now and relax a little and enjoy it.
College
Well I spent a year at BU, parents moved, so I had to as well, went to Framingham State for a semester and decided that I didn't need school, so I quit. After 9 long months of cleaning houses and pumping gas on Rte 9 in Framingham I realized that I needed to go back to school, and completed my nursing education in Rhode Island. Hey, it was free (being broke had it's advantages) and you didn't need car insurance back then!! Ha ha So 15 years post college degree, I guess I can say school wasn't all that bad!!
Workplace
Well I have been an RN for 15 years, working in hospitals, insurance companies, rehabs, and visiting nurses. I am currently working at The Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island as a discharge planner slash babysitter of everyone and anyone who works there (including the doctors)!! My real love is visiting nursing, especially hopsice, but I have put that in the back seat for a while until my son is a little older and doesn't need Mommy so much.
