Patricia's Story
Life
Left Michigan in 1970 and spent a year in Hawaii where my daughter was born, back to Michigan for about 3 years, the next five years in California, to Ohio for about a year working at various jobs that I did not plan to spend my live doing. I moved to Maryland and spent time checking out the various opportunities in the Washington DC area. After a couple of years working in the area, I landed a job with the FDA, that is where I finally found a career. I traveled the country coordinating national meetings and made many friends all over the country and Canada. I still have contact with many of them. September 2004 I retired, sold my home in Maryland and moved back to Michigan.
I have one daughter and four grandchildren who still live in Maryland. I am now the great-grandmother to twin boys . I really enjoy visiting them, which I have been able to do often. That also gives me the opportunity to visit many of my friends in the area.
In October of 2004 I spent a couple of weeks in Europe which was a great experience. I met several wonderful people who I still keep intouch with on a regular basis.

ld family home in May of 2004 which has been used as a get-a-way cottage for the past 30 years in Rose City, Michigan. Since I have been retired, I have been busy in making this cottage a functional and confortable home. It is coming along and I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I am enjoying the process of the next stage of my new life in a small city of no more than 710 which some are snow birds and summer only residents. I am volunteering and working on call at the City Hall and have a part time position at the Rose City Police Station. I also have been appointed by the Mayor to the Review Board, Library Board and the City Properties/DPW Committee. I am having lots of fun keeping busy. I have been working on my yard, making it burst with color with flowers and plants. I am really busy during tax season, I volunteer for AARP doing taxes for the seniors and low income in the area. I am not new to volunteering, have been involved with many different activities for over 30 years now. I hope that anyone reading this feels as blessed as I do and finds time to give back by volunteering, it really does a heart good.
