Patricia's Story
Life
After spending most of my life living in various places in Connecticut, I decided to make some major changes and move out of state. I lived in Florida (Orlando area and hated it) for 3 years and then decided to move to Arizona where I currently reside with my cat in the beautiful Sonoran desert about 35 miles east of Phoenix at the foothills of the Superstition Mountains. I've been here for 10 years and just love it.....the sun shines almost every day and the sky is a brilliant blue!!
Been working in the medical field for over 25 years and work as the billing manager for a major orthopedic practice in the East Valley.
When I'm not working I spend most of my free time hiking or backpacking in this beautiful state and have been all over~~~backpacked from the North Rim to the Colorado River to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, hiked up Mt. Humphr...Expand for more
ies (elev 12,600 feet) and trekked thousands of miles on and off trail in the Superstition Mountains and along the Mogollon Rim in the sweet pine & aspen forests. I've seen the most incredible things on my journeys, rattlesnakes, bears, javalina, bobcats and deer and also have visited many of the Hohokam, Sinagua and Salado Indian ruins around the state. Spent many days visiting and speaking with the native peoples of the Southwest....the Navajos, Hopi, and Tohono O'odham (Pima). Meeting them and sharing their history/customs has been the most enriching experience of my life. Life is very good!
When I'm not out in the backcountry, I spend my time making jewelry and quilts and am currently working on a hiking guide to the lesser known treks in Arizona. I am also an avid photographer and have been published in several local magazines.
