patricia's Story

Attended El Camino College 1 year after graduation from THS. Spent 3 years in nurses training at the Hosp. of the Good Samaritan Then worked labor and delivery at Little Company of Mary in Torrance. After that I worked 3 more years at South Bay Hospital in "Redondo Beach, 3 of my 4 chilren were born there. Those years were most enjoyable; not only because I loved obstetrics but I had the pleasure of meeting up again with classmates who came in to deliver their babies. In 1965 moved from the Torrance area and began working for City of Los Angeles at Central Receiving Hosp. Emergency Room and Police and Fire Ward After birth of my third daughter I was a stayat home mom; A 4th child.(finally a boy) was born. My children were raised in Burbank. When I returned to part time nursing, for LA City, as a jail nurse.for LA City. In the mid 70's Worked at a hospital in Lakeview Terrace, in North San Fernando Valley for 12 years. During that time I returned to Labor and ?Delivery and Emergency Room. Sadly, like many hospital, it went ba.nkrupt I went on to work several more hospitals in ER. During that time I earned a BS degree in Environmental Health & Occupational Safety, from Calif. State Univ. Northidge. Over the years I have enjoyed many adventures taking Wildernes kayaking and cycling trips in the US. cycling in Holland and across Costa Rica. In 2002 I moved to Long Beach and happily began working for the environmental Health Dept. I was assigned to the ...Expand for more
Food Program. Quite a change from nursing but most interesting and challenging. I was cross trained in Inspection of housing, pools and food facilites. As much as I loved this job I decided to retire, after 5 1/2 years, with a pension and soon moved to Morro Bay. My children and 6 grand children live in the area. "As much as I miss my job as a restaurant inspector I am enjoying the time to watch the grandchildren grow up. I only live up hill from the beach and have the beautiful Bay to kayak in. I also play golf once a week. This coming October will be the third class reunion that I have organized(our 60th) As many of you know our class has had many reunions (the first was in 1965. I Remember it was at the Jumping Jack in Walteria) Since then we have met together every 5 years. How many High school classes have that record? I hope to see many of you who might attend, here in Morro Bay. The last one here was a big success. This time we will have the pleasure of seeing our exchange student, Max Will. He plans to come from Germany with his wife and grand daughter. Max has kept in touch by E-mail. He wants his grand daughter, who will be the same age as he was, to visit the high school of his graduation. I am on Face Book so you can friend me there or let me know all about where life has taken you on Class Mates. My best to all of you! Patricia Hanover (Blishak) PS: I don't know why my name is listed as a "maybe" for attending the reunion-I am organizing it.
