Patricia Lani's Story
Life
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 14, 1947. I grew up with three brothers & two sisters. We were a military family until my dad retired from the Air Force while in Alaska. We traveled quite a bit ending up in Palmer, AK where I attended high school. I attented U of A in Fairbanks from 1965-1969. After graduating with a degree in elementary ed, I married Roger Dombrowski, a civil engineer graduate '69. He went into the Navy in September and I joined him in Rhode Island in November '69 after finishing my student teaching.
We ended up in Hawthorne, NV for the rest of his active duty and had our first son Mark Alan. We moved to Kenai, AK with Unocal where I volunteered at Sears Elementary and had three more boys: Cory Adam, Todd Alex and Scott Aaron. I taught CCD and led the church choir. I joined the community chorus. 61/2 years later we transferred to Santa Fe Springs, CA. I taught CCD, sang in the church & sang w/the California Women's Chorus. After 13 months we transferred to Santa Paula, CA. I worked at Mupu Elementary. We were very active in Scouts with our boys. I taught CCD and sang in the choir. 7 years later we transferred to Moab, UT where I taught CCD and led the choir. I joined Valley Voices-a Sweet Adelines group. We transferred to Midland, TX after 13 months. I worked as a Chapter One teaching assistant, sang in church and joined Sweet Adelines. Mark & Todd got married the year we moved to Bakersfield.
After 3 years we transferred to Bakersfield, CA. I was active in the church choir, taught CCD and sang with the community choir and became an enrollmen aide for kindergarten at three different schools. Mark was in his fifth year at New Mexico Tech majoring in Computer, Cory was in his second year at Texas A&M majoring in Ag Development and Todd was in his first year at Texas A&M majoring in Engineering, changing later to Midland Community College & New Mexico U majoring in Psychology after a year's hiatus working in Colorado at a ski resort. Scott was a junior in high school. Later he attended Savannah College of Art & Design and majored & mastered in Photography. he Brazos Sweet Adeline Chorus. We built a house in the Sugar Lakes area but were transferred once more to Balikpapan, Indonesia after just two years. We spent 5 years there before taking early retirement. During this time Cory & Scott got married and three of our grandchildren were born. I taught CCD, led the singing and volunteered at the international school. We thoroughly enjoyed our overseas assignment even in times of turmoil. Balikpapan is located on the island of Borneo so we were isolated from a lot of it. We visited other parts of Indonesia as well as New Zealand, Australia, Thailand Malaysia and Singapore. We retired to Silver City, NM after 33 years with Unocal and 26 years with the Naval Reserves. There is lots to keep us busy and we travel when we can. I am active in the church choir as well as the Hi Lo Silvers Chorus. Roger & I belong to the local rockhound & archeology groups. Mark/Lori live in Lemitar, NM. Mark works in Albuquerque for a computer company that works on government contracts while Lori works in computers at Presbyterian hospital in Albequerque. Cory/Renee live in Lehigh Acres, FL where he works for Sakada Seeds growing melons. He is currently getting certified as a plant breeder. Renee works with juveniles who are working towards their GED. Todd/Andleeb/Khalil live in Plano, TX where Todd programs software. Andleeb travels marketing CT Scanners to hospitals & Khalil(7) is in second grade.
Scott/Margaret/Elliott(7)/Eden(5)/Eliza(2)/Everett(6 months) bought an old farmhouse in Clifton, IL. Scott is an assistant professor at Olivet Nazarene U in Bourbonnais. He and his wife home school the kids.
Of all the places we have lived Alaska, Moab, Balikpapan and Silver City are my favorites. Patricia Lani (Roberts)Dombrowski

I attended Kindergarten-2nd in Des Planes, Illinois, 2nd -6th Las Vegas, NV at Nelllis AFB, 7th-8th at Reicher High in Waco, TX, 8th-9th at Wendler Jr. high in Anchorage, AK and 10th-12th at Palmer High in Palmer, AK.
College
I atended U of A in Fairbanks Alaska from 1965-Dec 1969. I graduated with a degree in elem ed and a strong music minor. Also took some reading courses in Midland TX for my job.
