Patricia's Story
Life
Born in Saint John and lived there until 1979 when we moved to Ontario, not my favourite place. Finished school and went onto college to become an RPN, returned 10 years later to study for my RN. I enjoy travel, reading crime fiction and attending theatre and concerts that are so accessible in the UK. I moved to England in 1996 and am still nursing.I have not married nor do I have children. My family who have return to to New Brunswick are well Pam works in child care and Heather in a kennel. Mom and Dad are retired and enjoying time with Pam's daughter and extended family and friends.
School

Graduated from Rideau High then went onto Algonquin college for a year and received my RPN diploma, ten years later I returned to the college for 3 years to receive my RN diploma. College
I don't remember much about my first trip to college (1982-83) other than the horribly decorated classroom at the Heron Road campus. We weren't even part of the real college. The second time (1992-94)was better, more opportunity to meet people, better access to library and more say in how things affecting my training were dealt with. Major problem was class size, made it difficult to know everyone in my class.
Workplace
Hired on at National Defence Medical Centre as an RPN then joined the local university to give 24 hour care to quadriplegic students. After becoming an RN I joined Rehabilitation Centre in Ottawa and the local veterans home part time. In 1996, I applied for a nursing job in England and have been here ever since. I am currently a night sister, meaning I am one of 3 senior nurses managing the hospital at night.
