Patricia's Story
Life
After graduating from Drexel in 2001, I started teaching Math at Franklin Towne Charter HS. FTCHS was a great place. I started there its second year it was open, and had the opportunity to teach a lot of great kids from Northeast Philly area. I was sad to leave them in 2003 when I moved to Florida to be closer to a man who is now my husband.
I got married June 19, 2004 to Michael O'Rourke (class of '92 CB West). We moved to the New Orleans area in September of 2004 from Pensacola just before Hurricane Ivan slammed into them, about two months before my husband went overseas to Afghanistan with the Air Force Reserves. Two weeks after he left, I found out I was pregnant with our first child. It was exciting and nerve wracking because the morning I found out, I went with his grandmother to the casino and wouldn't tell her until I knew that my husband knew.
Michael arrived home safely in January of 2005.

o months, the three of us evacuated in time before Hurricane Katrina. After spending a week with Michael's aunt and her family in Dallas, we made our way across country back to PA to my parents' house. We spent two weeks at my parents before we returned to our house in Covington, LA. The only way to describe the whole 4-week experience is "surreal." Hurricane Katrina hit southern Louisiana only 2 weeks after I had started my new job at Creekside Jr HS.
The year that followed had many ups and downs. About half way through the school year, we decided to look for a new place in Shreveport, LA area where Michael's Reserve job was moving to six hours away.
We bought our first house at the end of April 2006 just outside of Shreveport, LA. Within a month of moving in, we found out that we were expecting our second child.
As with the first, we chose not to find out the sex of the baby. The second pregnancy went smooth. The day before I was to be induced, I went into labor. We had William ("Billy") Henry O'Rourke on February 15th, 2007 at 10:38 weighing in at 7lbs 1oz.
