Patricia's Story
I moved to New Orleans, La. in December of my Junior Year. After graduating from Fortier High School in NOLA, my family moved to Houston, Texas which has been my home since then. I attended Sam Houston State University for 3 semesters, then transferred to University of Houston where I earned a B.S. in Math with minors in Business and Education. I met my husband, Ben F Rountree at U of H and we married upon our graduation. For several years I taught 7th and 8th grade math. During these years, we had two children, Andrea and Carter, who are one year apart.. Six and a half years later, after I quit teaching, we had another daughter, Adrian. For a number of years I was a stay-at-home mom, then in 1987, when Andrea and Carter were in college and Adrian in middle school, I went to law school and became an attorney in 1990. iced full time and had my own law office for about 10 years, then I semi-retired by closing the office and only taking a few cases at a time. Now I work some, enjoy time with Ben as much as possible, and spend a lot of time with my grandchildren: Carter and Amy's son Zachary (born 5/2012) and Adrian and Carlos' daughters, Braelyn (b. 11/2009) and Abby (b. 10/2011). I am the Leader of my granddaughter's Girl Scout troop which is fun but is also a lot of work...almost a second part time job. My daughter, Andrea, and her husband, Steve, married last year. I have many fond memories of Natchez. I remember a lot of the people I knew there. Although I only lived there from 4th to 11th grades, I feel like it is where I grew up and that my experiences there and the people I knew shaped the person I became in a very significant way.
