Patricia's Story

Howdy, friends, I went to St. Sebastian's grammar school for 3rd and 4th grade, 1958-1960, then... I went to St. Matthias grammar school for 6th, 7th and 8th grades, from 1960-1963, and graduated with my wonderful friends in 1963. My father owned the Standard Oil Gas Station at Lincoln, Lawrence & Western. And I lived above the flower shop on Western, owned by Dean Rosko's parents. High school: I then went to Immaculata in my Freshman (1963-64) and Sophomore (1964-65) years. Had I graduated from MAC I would have been in the Class of 1967. I loved MAC and didn't want to leave, but I left to move to Miami, Florida to be with my mother, whom I hadn't seen since I was 6 years old -- and I was 16 when I left MAC. My mother had had a stroke (at a very young age) and I felt I wanted to get to know her while time would allow. I did eventually return to Chicago in my Junior year and graduated from Von Steuben H.S. in Chicago (since my father was unable to pay for my return to MAC). In my Freshman year, I was in Sr. Mary St. Anthony's homeroom class, Room 100, and had many wonderful times with the friends I made. My memory is not so good now, but I do remember that the first year I started in 1963, we couldn't talk in the hall while changing classes -- and that changed in 1964. I was also in St. Carmelyn's art class and in the Art Club which was my f...Expand for more
avorite. I was in St. Columban's Latin class both in Freshman and Sophone years; and yes, Latin is a dead language and it was killing me! In my Sophomore year, I was in Mrs. Delaney's homeroom Class, Room 216. I took Biology and remember that we had to dissect frogs which were supposed to be alive right before the dissection, but our frogs "croaked" (forgive the pun) before the main event. I again was in Art Club and helped bbq hamburgers for the Art Club lunch in the MAC parking lot. I have landed in Pasadena, CA by way of Chicago-Miami-Chicago and Tucson, Arizona. With much delight, I have recently reconnected with a MAC alum, Linda Iani, who was both in my Freshman and Sophomore class. Linda now works in Burbank so we met for a wonderful dinner where the laughter and tears were the main event. We'll meet again soon. I have more to tell, but I'll summarize my life now. For the moment, I am working at Caltech in Pasadena, CA as an admin aide for infrared astronomers. I have one grown, married daughter who graduated from the University of Arizona and became a CSI for the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. Her biggest accomplishment: her two beautiful children. I am the grandmother of a 4 year old grandson and an 18-month old granddaughter. Life is good. And God is great. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. Love to all.
