Patricia's Story

Patricia Anna Quicksall (Gregg) Autobiography My name is Anna Gregg and I was born in Dallas, Texas at Parkland Hospital where our late president (John F. Kennedy) died. I have three children and four grandchildren living in Florida and Alabama. My heritage is American Cherokee Indian with Irish and French decent. Our family settled in Covington, Texas in 1852 as pioneers driven from North Carolina and Mississippi. My Great grandmother was Martha Covington and hence the town that we purchased and homesteaded was named after her. I was place at the age of 6 years in 1956 at Buckner Baptist Children¿s Home in Dallas, Texas up until I was 15 years old. Soon after leaving I had my first child at the age of fifteen years old. I did not finish the 9th grade as a result, however, obtained my GED later during my profession while in the Information Technology and Telecommunications industry. The honor on my professional side, as a result of leadership and project engineering achievements, the President of IBM had my name transcribed on SBS-4 satellite on board the Space Shuttle Discovery S84-26391 -- The insignia for the STS-41D during its maiden voyage in August 1984 for my dedicated contributions of (SBS¿s) successes. Life is a gift and I try to cherish every day as my last. I love to snow ski, roller blade, hike, and snorkel while spending time with my family when possible. During these precious years after twenty-plus years in my profession I have made an important decision recently to go back to school to stay marketable and meet and/or exceed professional requirements for my future successes. With these economic times that facing every Americans and others around the world I believe it is important in some way to give back to society more than ever. My goals are to set an example that you are never too old or too smart to make a change in your life and a difference in others. Once I have completed obtaining my Bachelors Degree, my plan is work on receivership of PMP certification and then a Masters in Information Technology. Currently, I live five miles from the White House and hopefully soon will be granted an opportunity to work with the one of these federal agencies¿; Pentagon, Department of Defense, Department of State or Department of Energy as a Program Manager.
