Pat (Chris Scheer)'s Story
We graduated from Fairview (66) and Lutheran High (67) and met at CU in the fall of 67. Started dating that winter and after the normal ups and downs were married in June of 70. Lived our first year in Boulder while Chris finished her degree and partied frequently with the Strattons from LHS. Another year and I got a teaching certificate and we moved to Washington Park in Denver (first home) and I taught English and coached gymnastics at Cherry Creek HS while Chris held several secretarial jobs - I'm sure we remember jobs were scarce back then with all us baby boomers competing for a few slots. I attended Denver Seminary and got an MA in 75. Our first daughter was born 2 weeks later and we moved to Ogden, Utah in August 75 to teach release tim...Expand for more
e classes. Did that for 5 years while Chris was a home maker and produced two more daughters - not on her own. Now all grown, all married - oldest counselor, middle RN and youngest missionary. Only one grandson but he's named after me!
In 1980 became pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Bountiful, Utah until I took disability retirement in September, 2008. Chris got nursing degree at U of U in 89 and has been a school nurse for last 16 years. We've been to Rwanda twice where Chris' brother Gary runs a pastoral training school. Last four years we've been remodeling an 1892 Victorian home that we have a love/hate relationship with - although it's getting better as our living space has improved. Occasionally hear from old classmates and always love it.
