Patrick's Story
You can find me on Facebook.
What's the wildest/stupidest thing you ever did in school?
It's not widely known but I "borrowed" a eight foot Ronald McDonald from the McDonald's store on Great Mills road, in broad daylight none the less, and relocated it to St. Mary's College on top of the dormitory.
You get one do-over. What do you do differently?
Would any of us really do over those years? I'm not sure I would. There are some very good memories but several bad ones as well. I'd have a lot to make up for, maybe too much. I was a bit out of my mind during those years. I look back and see myself as a very troubled angry loner on a one way path to self destruction. Not a very appealing self examination but thank God I found a direction and changed.
Like many I've had my share of experiences. Free climbing in Western Maryland and falling forty feet on one of those climbs. That hurt.
I've studied Shotokan and Hapkido since I was in the sixth grade. I taught womens self defense for five years during the 90's and competed in full contact tournaments for thre...Expand for more
e years. I still teach on occasion, mostly people I work with or their spouses.
Spent almost nine years in the private sector security industry doing executive protection details and having down time as a manager. Lost a quarter of my left lung due to this job but I knew the risks going in.
After I left the protection field I ran a business for four years until 9-11. Took a year off to raise my youngest son. Went to work for TSA in '02' and have been with them since.
I've seen IED's, live animals in bags, more contraband drugs than I care to remember, enough weapons and guns to arm a small army and even 14 chainsaws all on people as carry-ons. Its an interesting job.
Thought all this I went to tech school and became a certified drafter. Then hit college and degreed in bio- mechanical engineering. Got married had two boys and have ended up back in college with these cocky little youngsters that think they own the world. Uummm...I guess we were that way too. :^) Nostalgia..ain't it grand.
